Post subject: Thanks for sharing that information.....
Wow, I found very informative and great information on those sites you gave. For one the sheriff site where it showed before and after pictures. Sad, and so true. Tell me that you agree weed is not the drug that should be priority. I never once used weed how then did I end up at a time in my life addicted to crack? I think meth and harder drugs should be the main focus of atention. Weed can be grown in a backyard but can't cause an explosion or contaminate people's lungs. Cocaine is transported here. Well thanks for the insight I want to help so much with people, children as I was a lost child and my struggle starts at home. I want it to go futher into other people's lives. It makes me mad and I think we should start bringing up these issuesto our govenment and if many people do it then maybe we can tell our government we are tired of it....maybe? -Bridget
I agree, that finances spent in vain on Drug War, should be directed to treatment and drug addiction research.
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) characterized addiction as a disease, but do not provide define methods for treatment, nor Addiction Medicine is recognized specialty in US.
I agree, that drug addiction treatment should be priority, not incarceration, and people in jail should be granted by law the drug addiction treatment, not just supplements to the treatment.
I agree, that people with cancer may use marijuana to easy pain, but it would be better to use derivatives from cannabis. Also, I agree that medical marijuana, shouldn't be the easy way for some individuals to get high.
Now, the question is: will government ever agree to that?

That is true, after being informed that the Denver woman prison and Cannon City prison get drugs into there facilities it warrants an effect of confussion. Are these institutuions the appropriate measures for drug offenders? The question remains is it just a place to earn a profit from these sick individuals (whom I once was and know off hand what it was like) it is obvious to me that when inmates can still get high in there how are they gonna stay clean when they are out? Second of all weed is still a drug and it should be a priority as well but the bigger picture of doing any form of street drugs and prescibed medications should be taken more seriously and the President can afford to spend trillions on war what about our own street wars?
I think this is a very interresting and touchy subject.I dont know much about the U.S.A,but I can tell you here in Canada,at lease the two majour city's I have lived in in a total of 10 years that our local RCMP are fighting a losing battle but their fighting.Every other day I read in the paper about another coke bust or math lab taken down or marquania growop raided.I read about the many more street cops they put out there on the downtown core.Like they say for every one growop they bust 10 more pop up somewhere else.I dont know the answer but I do know our goverment dont give 2 sh-ts as long as their lining their pockets thats all that counts.

To ellobrate futher on the weed topic yes I am not saying that it don't cause cancer or harm your body I am saying that you don't see police raiding a person home for weed wearing a full body suits on with mask and clearing out neighbors in order to be safe. I am saying that the Bush Administration's major problem is to use funding (since it aint much) tackeling the bigger more dangerous drugs. Yes I do think the governmnet is money hungery but does that mean we just give up if people just gave up the blacks would still be slaves, we wouldn't have no democracy at all. I am saying to me hope is when even just one person gets help. I know of hand that I had to do my time for my addiction the law is against it. I am saying we need to work on the issue of meth, crack heroin, and I won't sit still no longer. I will write to the mayor, to the papers, to schools and to whoever I can cause aint no harm in raising my voice. I sit here with worries for my son's future, my sister who is still smoking and I think prison is bull Having hope isn't a bad thing and sometime it only takes a few people to make big changes in atleast a community. I will look into fundraising and maybe starting a new business a rehab directed towards children who are addicted. I don't know yet what complete steps to take but I can see your point as I am disgusted with our policies. A rapist gets less time than a drug addict only the rich get the best rehab, the rest go to prison or a rehab that overworks and under pays its staff. I don't need to buy a clue because I won't let discouragement ever stop me for overcoming hills one mojor one was crack and you know what self defeat isand what result s that all hope is gone we become stagnant and lost to higher powers. I am sure as well as you that there is still good people out there, ones that are missionaries, charities, out there helping people like in New Orleans when the very own president said Fu*! you that is how I feel but thanks for sharing your views on my statement. I don't smoke weed no more I am drug free but really second hand smoke from ciggarettes is worse than actually smoking it. I do see changes on that now no smoking in bars, resterants, and the war on drugs starts one bust at a time. One more new rehab and organization to reach one more lost soul. Not just more prison being built for drug addict. I am happy about the new Medicaid program how long till it takes affect?
I am happy about the new Medicaid program how long till it takes affect?
I am not too enthusiastic about it, since for the last 6 years all federal and state financed medical programs have been on the "diet".
Eventually, this Medicaid program starts in the beginning of next year.

Topic, Is the Bush Administration fighting the right drug war?
Keep it real,
Guess what? You are right I do need to use correct grammar and punctuation. Thanks for the advice, I will make an effort to improve that for everyone . Please, so you know one thing I am not is sensitive to what you or anyone else has to say to try and hurt, teach, or, say to me. I been through he|l and back and that is why I am stronger today. Now I am always willing and ready to learn new things so , lets keep this topic going. Not to get on anerve cause I respect that and FYI here in Denver, Colorado it is legal to carry up to an ounce of Marijuana and to tell you what is real is the fact that not only in a there is a lot of teenagers that are smoking and getting into trouble with the law the truth is that the moral standards and health risks aren't being taught by parents, teachers, and others and because of this the plain fact they are told ....
1. It is ok if it is less than an ounce
2. Oh crap it kind of makes you lazy but you can learn more.
3. Drinking is worse
Keep it real said
A study of 450 individuals found
that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems and miss more days of work than nonsmokers
You were able to say what I said and clearly it is a lot easier to talk to someone face to face and when your typing you can be at a disadvantage. So I will tell you if you wanna know what I think. It is solely my opinion. When I was real bad into crack I had no job (I couldn't keep one) and I was near death. Do you think more or less people who smoke crack have solid jobs? Or do you think they are so sick that work is even an option?
I am not on the defensive with no one, so don’t perceive me like that but I have learned to speak up when being questioned. Now I understand clearly and I am at peace with you. I have a different view on this and will explain further for this topic why I feel the way I do
However, prepared2do says : about
marijuana smoke it also contains cannabinoids such as THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), which are non-carcinogenic and demonstrate anti-cancer properties in vivo and in vitro.
Why am I stating this?
Because the statement that weed is a starter drug
is
A fallacy
Tobacco is the #1 starter drug
Inaccurate for many people
weed is dangerous but not as dangerous
Any thing in over access can be dangerous but some things that are used in the body can be lethal used only once.
[color=blue]Meth causes extensive damage to the body, and can cause death or permanent physical damage. Lately there was an increase in psychosis with meth users.
Ever wonder why there are so many more people that need mental health services now and Why there are so many crimes related to hard drugs (not Marijuana)
Meth addiction is a big problem that has spread to all areas of the United States. During 1999 4.3% (9.4 million people) of the U.S. population reported trying meth at least once in their lifetime. The highest rate of meth use was among adults ages 18-25. Although meth use is an epidemic across the United States, nowhere is it a bigger problem that in the Midwest. Meth accounts for nearly 90% of all drug cases in the Midwest. Meth is outdoing cocaine as the drug of choice and easier to obtain. The state medical examiner's office reports the number of death cases testing positive for meth have been higher than cocaine for the past three years. The office also reports meth is found in more and more cases of homicides, and motor vehicle accidents.
Crack addiction is one of society's greatest problems today. Individuals addicted to crack will do almost anything to get the drug. It has penetrated all levels of our society, rich, poor, and everyone in between. Family members connected to crack addicts live in chaos and confusion. Not understanding the underlying mechanics of cocaine addiction.
Nausea Vomiting Anxiety Convulsions Insomnia Loss of appetite leading to malnutrition and weight loss Cold sweats Swelling and bleeding of mucous membranes Restlessness and anxiety Damage to nasal cavities Damage to lungs Possible heart attacks, strokes, or convulsions
The drug is often cut with one or more of any number of other substances, such as the cheaper drugs procaine, lidocaine, and benzocaine, and substances that pose no serious risks, such as sugars (mannitol and sucrose), or starches. However, when quinine or amphetamines are added, the potential for serious side effects increases dramatically. The chances of overdosing and poisoning leading to coma, convulsions, and death are greatly increased.
This can cause instant death and yet some still smoke it up? Why aren’t people put in the hospital instead of jail or prison? because the government makes the profit from the legal system. Do I believe that we could have a better United States? Yes, that is why I am voting. Thank Lord we do have some rights in this country so far. I hate what this Bush Admin has done and that is my true story on my feelings.
Heroin
HIV/AIDS - due to sharing of needles ,Poisoning - from the addition of toxin to the drug
Hepatitis - liver damage, Skin infections - from repeated intravenous injections, Other bacterial and viral infections Increase risk of stroke Collapsed veins Lung infections
Many of the additives in street heroin may include substances that do not readily dissolve and result in clogging the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain. This can cause infection or even death

And, amid the wreckage, a pressing political debate: are we fighting the wrong drug war? The Bush administration has made marijuana the major focus of its anti-drug efforts, both because there are so many users (an estimated 15 million Americans) and because it considers pot a "gateway" to the use of harder substances. "If we can get a child to 20 without using marijuana, there is a 98 percent chance that the child will never become addicted to any drug," says White House Deputy Drug Czar Scott Burns, of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. "While it may come across as an overemphasis on marijuana, you don't wake up when you're 25 and say, 'I want to slam meth!' " But those fighting on the front lines say the White House is out of touch. "It hurts the federal government's credibility when they say marijuana is the No. 1 priority," says Deputy District Attorney Mark McDonnell, head of narcotics in Portland, Ore., which has been especially hard hit. Meth, he says, "is an epidemic and a crisis unprecedented."
Marijuana
The parts of the brain that control emotions, memory, and judgment are affected by marijuana. Smoking it can not only weaken short-term memory, but can block information from making it into long term memory. It has also been shown to weaken problem solving ability.
Before I turned to Christ for my addiction I used weed to stop the crack and it worked however, I became addicted to weed. I can say it was a lot easier to quit smoking Marijuana then it was crack. Now I see that any street drug and including prescibed medicine can be addictive and destroy lives. I know many people who done various drugs and have to tell you it is not going to be enough to stop the people who make the drugs or sell the drugs and lock them up with the same people who use drugs and have medical conditions that need help. Back when I stopped using crack there were no options as far as medication to relieve the symptom’s but now I am hearing of them. I ask what, is so wrong with the beautiful world Lord has given us? Our children, air, life that has been dulled and broken down by not realizing that to live sober is the greatest happiness ever and life is what you make it. In the valley of Decisions. I now believe that life is temporary but why not do good things and bring good things to yourself. It is never too late for that
Lilbubba> Diane, Hi there, well I have been over there with her everyday.I have stood my ground an tried to keep peace and now she is upset with me because I got on her case about her parole and how she should stop, and how sick she looks. I told she should be taking her pills and I made her take her blood pressure pills. Tommorow I will find out what is gonna happen.I feel a little guilt creeping but as long as her po keeps his word cause if he sends her to prison I am gonna be sick and down hard on myself. For near one year every resident of Clark County (including myself), Washington State is paying 1 cent per $10 spent. This "extra" sales tax should cover methamphetamine treatment in our county. As a matter of fact it has been called the "meth tax"
Clark County WA and Multnomah County, OR are the worst places according to different reports. Methamphetamine costs each local household an average of $365 annually because of crime, declining property values and cleanup of clandestine labs, among other costs.
