Post subject: Computer Help Section Reply with quote

for one reason or another i need to reformat my hard drive numerous times throughout the year. although i'm fairly computer literate, i managed to completely wipe out my back up hard drive yesterday (all my poetry) Crying or Very sad while re-installing win xp. fortunately, i found the program i needed and have thus far recovered a few thousand files.

i know that not everyone knows where to turn when a system crashes. i feel that because our only access to this site is through the computer that it may not hurt to have a section devoted to some geek wisdom. sharing programs useful to the smooth running of our machines or revival if that is the case, might be quite benificial. of course we could search for whatever on the net, but if someone had the answer here, then why not?

what do you think?

regards, bill

today i am still working on recovering my files. long process. it took four and a half hours to scan yesterday, but when it finished i found out that the program i was using was not registered so i could not complete the process. so today i downloaded the same program, this time registered, but now the problem is that it is in german and i can't read or write german, so ist es handlich, ein ubersetzung programm fur auch zu haben, wenn sie in einem festen punkt sich finden und einen anhaltspunkt nicht haben hinsichtlich, was sie lesen.
wie lynn sagt , nicht fur ich erhalte, was ich zahle. Monkey

What type of files are you trying to recover? I usually use EasyRecovery Professional and FinalRecovery. What soft do you use? I might be able to help you.

i had used several including easy recovery pro, but had no luck. however, i happened to find a back up of my writings which included most everything except the most recent. that was my biggest concern. i am disappointed about a large compressed music collection tho which is lost. but i can download that again.

thanks for your offer to help.
