I live in a snow globe.
It is snowing again.
Tiny flakes float
Aimlessly down
Past my window.

Three cats perched inside
watching the snow fall
Gently
Washing everything in white

The three of us watch,
warm in our beds overlooking the Chugach
birds
cars
a moose goes by

Soon the darkness
Will fall upon us again
But it will still be light
Thanks to the bright white snow

Winter festivities
will be starting soon
Outdoor carnivals
ice bowling
curling
snow and ice sculptures
frost bite footrace
snowshoe softball
the Miners and Trappers Ball
fur auctions
and dog powered sporting events

hundreds of dogs
filling the streets
chattering with excitement
to do the work they love to do
to have the opportunity to pull

I'll be waiting for them
in my snow globe world
as they run through the woods
over the creeks
and back down the streets

silently they pull
only the woosh of the sled
like the gentle breeze that
guides the snow flakes to the ground
I'll be waiting

My face turned upward toward the sky
washed in the icy softness
that falls upon me
I can't wait for the festivities to begin

We are having a blizzard again. I LOVE IT!!!!!

My favorite musher, Martin Buser won the Kuskokwim 300. GO MARTIN!!!! Can't wait for the Iditarod!!!!

Tickets went on sale for the Miners and Trappers Ball...and I believe they are auctioning off hot bachelors in tuxedos to raise money for Diabetes.

For those who don't love the snow...they held a fly flishing clinic today for people to learn how to tie their flies in anticipation of the summer Salmon runs.

The festivities have begun. Yippeee. The dark days and nights are looking brighter.
