| Post subject: Photos Depicting Balance and Symmetry |
|
|
|
i've been wanting to post these for the longest time but could never figure out how to upload. well let me tell you, those days are gone.
these photos are examples of what i do alot when i am out in nature.
if anyone has ever tried balancing stones, particularly round stones, you know then it requires a great deal of patience.
so to, is it time consuming trying to find that nuetral point on a peice of driftwood, that keeps it from tipping too far, one way or the other.
i also enjoy dealing with symmetry; that ability of making both sides equal, which of course results in a sence of balance.
i do this all the time and enjoy it immensely. sometimes it can be quite challenging as it was with the balancing of the driftwood as there was a strong north wind blowing onto the beach. i had to set it up many times before i got that shot.
i don't seem to possess the same talent for achieving balance and symmetry in relationship to my own well being. never have. but somehow, looking now at these photos again, in the context that i am presenting them, i hope to use them now as an inspiration to bring that art form into my personal being.
at home i do a lot of carving and other art as well. this birdhouse was a three person collaboration. i built the house. the roof top was carved with feathers. and the wings were also carved. when you pull on the cord that is weighted by a rock through the bottom, the wings flapped. my ex painted the house. and a poet who was a young girl in the japanese internment camps in b.c. during the war, lent her poem. this house was auctioned off to help protect greenlands
these last two are an example of what i am currently involved with. these are paper mache masks. this is where i am trying to focus my eneries toward today. i'd like to start selling them. the masks theme is borrowed from the maori warriors of new zealand who tattood their faces

Bill-I am overwhelmed by you, I can't believe these photos, the peace you feel by looking at these rocks is incredible. I would put prints like these in my home to have the calming presence they emit.
This work is great Bill, have you thought of a career in this type of work? I know you do this for personal rewards but I think you could market some of these pictures. Think of all the hamburgers you could buy with the money you make.
Please let me know if you decide to make a go with the masks as well. They are very interesting and beautiful, and it would be interesting to know some of the history behind those you make.
You have some real creative genius showing thru.
Also, I could not make out what the poem says on the birdhouse, could you share that?
Really really impressive stuff here.
Gene-Thanks for putting Bill's work together. I will be checking in to the creative recovery you mentioned, sounds like interesting therapy. |
