| My story is probably pretty typical. I was once at a point when I could have quit; however, i was not willing at the time. now, i am at the point where i am having a very difficult time with stopping. i would just like some encouragement and any ideas some may have with the ways they have coped. i guess this is a way i can let people in on my destructive secret, and maybe my promise to try will be more effective since i am no longer accountable only to myself. please help, and maybe your words will be the ones that really hit home with me...thanks doesnt say enough... |

The only advice I can share with you simple is, if you want or need help then find a meeting of NA and go to it. You then can make the decision of what it is you want.

I will share from my own personal experience though that the only reason you should have to do whatever you choose to do better be for YOU. You are first and foremost accountable to YOU, the line forms behind you!

| My girlfriend was doing 2-3 grams at a time and trust me, it was a nightmare for both me and her, more for me because I never did it and I had to deal with the BS mood swings, etc. The hardest part for the user is admitting that there is a problem and that they are ready to quit. Make sure you are not quitting for someone else or because someone else gave you an ultimatum because you will relapse if that person decides to not be part of your life anymore. Go to meetings (at least 20 miles from your dwelling) so you will realize how serious your problem is and after a few times going there you will know what I mean about having to quit for yourself. Secondly, YOU MUST get RID of all your drug dealer and drug using friends. Without doing this, you will NEVER be able to stop using. It's a tough journey my friend and I wish you lots of luck. |

That's how it usually happens.... good news is you are admitting that you have a problem and that is a great first step. Continued use will only make your journey to sobriety that much more difficult.
You have named it, now it is time to face the adverse effects that full blown addiction can have on your life, not just this moment, or this day....but the rest of your life.
You have found a good place for information and support here. Keep posting and reading as there are many here that can relate to what you are experiencing. Begin by being honest with yourself and those that love you as you commit yourself to taking back the controls of your life.
I see that Gene has provided you with a link to the informational section of this site for cocaine/crack cocaine. Educate yourself on the risk of using and the effects that Crack have on your mind as well as the risk of using which can be life threatening. Continue to read the personal stories in the forums here and know that you do not want to allow your your addiction to progress any further. Know that absolutely nothing good comes from addiction... many lose all that they own and even those that they love to addiction, the price of choosing to use is very high indeed.
Keep reading and Good Luck ... Please keep us posted ... This is an active site where you can feel free to think out loud and gain valuable feedback as it relates to your situation .... You are not alone...
Wishing you Strength and Peace ...

I just posted in another thread that I was close to OD'ing yesterday, so you're probably going to be inclined to not even take my words into consideration.
Have HOBBIES - if you don't have a life aside from partying, start creating one. Take up hobbies, sports, build a new circle of physically active and culturally new friends, and you will be well on your way to quit. |

| The first thing you have to do is tell someone your close to!!! You might think that you can do this on your own but you need help. Go to NA meetings! I know you have herd this a lot, but you have listen this time. Good Luck! |

Small advise to Samaster:
Look at the initial post date. This post more than 3 months old and that http://www.cocainehelp.org/MDForum-viewtopic-t-648.html about 1 year old. |
