Hi everyone. I am a new here but have been an active member of AA and several Addiction & Recovery forums for almost two years. I am a former IV coke user, and have accumulated a collection of 30 day, 2, 3, and 6 month coins, chips and keytags.
I celebrated 6 months yesterday, and am trying hard not to make the mistakes that I have made that brought my clean time to an end in the past. I started using cocaine regularly at the age of 42, had an overdose with a grand mal seizure and cardiac arrest on the side of the road in 2003, and struggled with trying to quit and stay clean for 3 years after that.
I went to a 28-day rehab in March of 2006, and began attending 12-step meetings on a daily basis after I got out. I have had a few slips along the way, but am enjoying some serenity and stability in my recovery at the present time.
I get deep satisfaction from sharing my own exerience, strenth and hope with other cocaine addicts, and feel a strong desire to connect with other IV cocaine addicts in recovery. Recovery seems like a lonely place for ex-IV users; most it seems only find relief in the grave.
I am married to a wonderful woman who has been my almost constant companion for nearly 20 years, and has always been drug-free, and I have two children, ages 9 and 5 who are the center of my universe at this point in my life.
I work in the financial services sector, and spend my free time pursuing golf, cycling, snow skiing (ironic, huh?)and sailing. I look forward to making many new friends on this forum, and contributing in any way I can.
By all means, please feel free to continue sharing with us. Here we all share with the ideal that we can help each other .... Congratulations on your 6 months sobriety. I think you will find this site beneficial to your continued sobriety ...
Strength and Peace to you,
Michelle
