Authorities say nearly 100 students have been arrested at San Diego State University on drug-related charges.

Drugs, cash and guns were seized from sellers and buyers in the bust that followed a five-month undercover operation.

The San Diego County district attorney’s office says the 96 arrests include fraternity members. Defendants are scheduled to appear in state court to face charges Tuesday afternoon.

Early reports have indicated that many of those arrested belonged to the Theta Chi fraternity. It is believed they were heavily involved in possessing and distributing cocaine, ecstasy and other drugs.

COCAINE users can get help to kick the habit - through a self-help website.Bolton is the first town in the country to go live with such a site.The website - http://www.bolton.knowcocaine.co.uk - was launched at a cost of £4,000 after health bosses became concerned about the number of people in the town dying as a result of abusing the drug.

It is aimed at people seeking treatment for the first time and explains ways of controlling, cutting down or stopping cocaine use.

Jan Hutchinson, director of public health at Bolton Primary Care Trust, said: "Cocaine ruins lives, it ruins families and we would urge users, or anyone who knows a user, to access the help that is available."

Many studies on cocaine addiction - and attempts to block its addictiveness - have focused on dopamine transporters, proteins that reabsorb the brain's "reward" chemical once its signal is sent. Since cocaine blocks dopamine transporters from doing their recycling job, it leaves the feel-good chemical around to keep sending the pleasure signal. Now a new study conducted at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory suggests that cocaine's effects go beyond the dopamine system. In the study, cocaine had significant effects on brain metabolism, even in mice that lack the gene for dopamine transporters.
